Jen

Jennifer has been a full-time global worker since 2006, serving in a variety of capacities and settings in east and central Africa. She is currently based in Uganda. She began her career as a nurse, first in the NICU in the US, then in a maternal and child health program in rural Africa. Over time, her work as a nurse shifted to informal, one-on-one times of patient education and advocacy, and she realized she enjoyed walking with people through difficult times in their lives. Seeing the benefits of formal counseling in the lives and work of global workers led her to work on her masters of counseling. She is now a licensed associate counselor in the state of Georgia, working towards her independent license.

She has been married to Daniel, who is a Third Culture Kid, for 23 years. They have two adventurous and clever teen-aged daughters! She enjoys good cups of chai, reading, and long runs over and around the Kampala hills.
